Introduction

The progressive integration of Evidence-Based Training (EBT) into aviation training programmes presents both opportunities and challenges. ECA recognises the potential of EBT to improve training relevance and operational safety, and supports the evidence-based approach in principle. However, ECA does not fully endorse EBT as currently implemented, and calls for a more cautious and structured approach before any further expansion is considered.

ECA's support for EBT is conditional: the required competencies and associated indicators must be clearly defined prior to implementation. While EBT rightly allows for flexibility, this flexibility must operate within clear guidance that is consistently applied across operators and national authorities. Without this, the framework risks producing uneven standards and weakened oversight.
